Richard N. Norris, MD

Performing Arts Medicine Specialist

Dr. Richard Norris, a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, started the Boston Arts Medicine Center in 1987. It was the first clinic in the Boston area to serve the medical needs of both musicians and dancers. He later directed the National Arts Medicine Center (D.C.) from 1991 to 1997 at which time he left his practice to serve a fellowship in Interventional Spine Medicine.

Richard is a founding member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association and served as the Chair of their Education Committee for 10 years. He was on the faculty of the New England Conservatory teaching Health Education for Musicians. he has been playing guitar since 1962 and studied flute as well. Richard, an invited guest lecturer, here and abroad, is also a noted author on the topic of musicians injuries. He presently lives and practices medicine in Northampton, Massachuset
